LOC.id in
Outdoor Navigation
Public places such as market squares often pose a problem for blind or visually impaired people. Lots of people, heavy traffic, a lack of orientation structures (e.g. sidewalk edges and tactile floor guidance systems) and the correspondingly loud background noise make orientation difficult. This is where the LOC.id POI points of orientation can help. Easy to find thanks to orientation signals, they provide acoustic information about the immediate surroundings, e.g. intersections or buildings, at selected locations, making orientation much easier.
Special places - special challenges. Structural changes, and therefore the installation of acoustic signaling devices, are not possible everywhere. This is particularly true for listed buildings. However, there is a solution: LOC.id ROCK - the so called "talking stone". This is an acoustic signaling device that is installed at ground level. In short: paving stone out - "talking" stone - LOC.id Rock - in! When a blind or visually impaired person with active LOC.id app approaches, LOC.id ROCK provides information about the local conditions or warns of existing obstacles. The surface is non-slip, can be driven over and is reliably protected against dust and water. To eliminate the need for additional cabling for the power supply, a solar module is used, which is also embedded in the floor.
